From what I hear MJ being a schedule 1 was partly due to big business influence as the hemp product could be utilised in several ways replacing chemicals in the making of goods. Corporate influence.
Like crack, weed was widely thought of as a drug for certain ethnic groups and just like crack, became a schedule one even though powder cocaine was not...just a theory here..
