I keep reading that ameritrade is short. That is a mythe propogated to support a conspiracy theoty. Ameritrade does not trade, they clerk. If there is a naked short out in the market, ameritrade finds itself subject to a bunch of FTDs. They restrict buying to relieve pressure on the market to hopfully allow the DTC to catch up with delivery.

all things multiply to the point of starvation.
