"I'm new to the industry, and trying to play catch up. Isn't the whole point of blockchain and bitcoin that they are imprinted or coded and so traceble that if stolen, they can't be used? If it's just as hackable as any other account, what is the glory all about?

Yes. It's whole point for Bitcoin. Actually Bitcoin and BTC's blockchain wasn't compromised since it's birth. It works exactly as implemented.

But more complicated, programmable blockchains like Ethereum or other private software which uses blockchain functions isn't so hack-proof and needs longer testing like any other software. The same can be said about exchanges."
