SSD (solid state drive) vs HDD (hard disc drive) A few months ago, I bought two new notebook computers, one had SSD and one had HDD. The one with SSD was much faster than the HDD computer. For example, the SSD computer started up and loaded windows 10 about three times faster than the HDD computer. It also was quiet and didn't make the whirring sounds that the HDD computer did. The SSD computer cost a little more ( $180 or so) but it was well worth it. I returned the HDD computer. MU makes SSD components, STX which had a big earnings miss, makes HDD.
