J.C. Penney Co. named Jeffrey Davis its new finance chief Monday, an external hire with experience in the retail and restaurant industries.
Mr. Davis succeeds Andrew Drexler, who stepped into the role earlier this month on an interim basis following the resignation of CFO Edward Record. Mr. Drexler was the company's controller and chief accounting officer, and will return to that role, said a company spokesman. Mr. Record joined the company in 2014, and helped steer the company's turnaround.
Mr. Davis was previously CFO of Darden Restaurants Inc., owner of Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse. He joined the company in 2015 and left in less than a year. Before joining Darden, Mr. Davis spent eight years at Wal-Mart Stores Inc., where he held various finance jobs, including senior vice president and treasurer and CFO of the U.S. division.
Hell, maybe they will put cafe lunch counter bars into JCP like I enjoyed going to when I was a boy in the 60's (Woolworths, Murphy's etc) ... Remember???
