There is no way in hell that the original partners in the JDZ would have drilled five dry holes in the JDZ while using a faulty geological model. Sinopec had a lot of money but they didn't have a lot of technical expertise. At one point they even admitted themselves that the JDZ stretched the limit of their technical abilities.
I'm sure these companies believed they would find oil. But I'll never believe they gave us the best chance to do so.
Average players can get lucky. Moneymaker did win the WSOP, didn't he? That didn't happen with ERHC in the JDZ.
