I guess they only have to cover if they don't come up with more money to cover the increases in the stock on the way up. If they do that, they could theoretically keep their short forever. I today was struggling with whether to sell my entire position at $95, as $100 is my short term target based on the June qtr guidance of $1.35 x 4 x 18 PE(conservatively). I mean the huge short interest surely has to add upward pressure. Unfortunately I was not around when the stock hit $95 around 3 PM, and feel the selloff from $95.50 to $92.50 might mark the beginning of a retracement of a good portion the gains from $58 to $95.
