One reason to believe that they are holding onto those shares is the upside. This is an illiquid stock and to put on a very large position is a difficult thing to do. If you believe ATVI will settle then there's no way they would sell their shares and risk buying back in to an illiquid stock. The only other thing to note is that long sellers usually want to make higher sales. They don't usually go down into a rallying stock to make lower sales.
To sum up it's either ATVI holding it down or it's probably some of the funders.
