Without a technical report from Argo, or one from Mexus, there is just so much one can tell from an assay highlight table, and a drill location map that also shows some general geology.

However, I see enough to understand the approach Argo took. They knew there were high grade veins on the property, just like there are on a thousand other prospects. Selectively drilling just the highest grade veins would not give them the information they needed - is there an economic, bulk-minable orebody at Santa Elena? Majors are looking for significant tonnage/ounces that can be mined at a profit. A few scattered high grade results are good for little more than promotion.

So, they did some reconnaissance-level mapping, identified the geological structures that had a chance of being mineralized, and drilled through them. Their hope was that not only were the structures mineralized, but there would be disseminated mineralization extending some distance from them. Apparently, that is not what they found, so they left.
