The Carolina Panthers have relieved General Manager Dave Gettleman of his duties.
“After much thought and a long evaluation of our football operations, I have decided to relieve Dave Gettleman of his duties as general manager. I want to thank Dave for the role he played in our success over the past four seasons. While the timing of this decision is not ideal, a change is needed," owner/founder Jerry Richardson said.
Gettleman has been Carolina's General Manager since 2013. Prior to serving the Panthers, he was the Senior Pro Personnel Analyst and Pro Personnel Director with the New York Giants. He has also served roles with the Denver Broncos and Buffalo Bills.
Carolina finished 6-10 last season after losing to the Broncos in the prior year's Super Bowl.
