WebTrends Visitor Analytics Measures Online Response to Presidential Debate Web Site

WebTrends Supports Historic Internet Project to Gather Citizens' Feedback About Presidential Debates

PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--October 2, 2000-- WebTrends® Corporation (Nasdaq:WEBT - news), the leading provider of Enterprise Solutions for eBusiness Intelligence and Visitor Relationship Management (VRM)(TM), today announced that the nonpartisan, nonprofit Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) will use WebTrends Enterprise Reporting Server to measure online response to the presidential debates.

Enterprise Reporting Server will provide powerful analytics to measure overall web site popularity and interest in specific content groups throughout the debate cycle at www.debates.org.

WebTrends is supporting the CPD's aggressive Internet project to encourage citizen participation in the election process. Voter education initiatives on www.debates.org include a survey that allows voters to suggest questions for the debates, online chat forums, and a curriculum focusing on debates in the political process. Using aggregated, anonymous intelligence on web visitors' behavior and preferences, WebTrends Enterprise Reporting Server provides the CPD with customized reports on the perceived importance and popularity of the various debate and voter education content on the CPD's web site, as well as real-time information about the web site's performance.

``Utilizing the interactive communication power of the Internet is a great way to involve as many citizens as possible in the presidential process. The key to engaging more citizens in the election process is to ensure they have easy access to the content and issues that matter most to them,'' said Eli Shapira, chief executive officer of WebTrends Corporation. ``WebTrends is proud to provide the CPD sophisticated insight on how voters want to interact online, ultimately helping make this year's presidential election process more engaging and meaningful to the American public.''

The Commission on Presidential Debates is a nonpartisan voter education organization established in 1987 to ensure that debates, as a permanent part of every general election, provide the best possible information to viewers and listeners. ``We are glad to have WebTrends participate in this first true Internet-era presidential election,'' said Heather Balas, the CPD's director of special projects. ``We find it valuable to know which of our various educational materials are most accessed by the public.''
