I found the basic reason why General Cable has partnered with MHTX to produce nano-aluminum cable for the U.S. power grid. I quote from the December 2016 comments of Dr. Srini Siripurapu of General Cabe Corporation: "Some 7% of the energy is lost between a generation source and the customer meter in the U.S., an annual loss of $25 billion." That's a lot of bucks! We don't see much from either MHTX nor General Cable about their joint effort since 12/2016 and maybe no news is good news.
