You don't need to live in the same state you do business in. Why is it important what state Tom lives in? I had 3 businesses out of my state that I reside. Not sure what the question is, or what importance it is to the company. Look at a lot of the Fortune 500 business owners, you will see they don't reside in the state their business is in.
