Here's what my source in Mongolia is saying:

1. Run-off was a humiliating loss for MPP that will cost Enkhbold his roles as Speaker and MPP Party Leader.

2. Likely next Speaker, Vice PM Nyamdorj (as opposed to the PM Erdenbat for some reason), is a no-nonsense guy who will likely defend the MPP’s agenda and business interests aggressively should Battulga take a hostile stance towards them.

3. He has heard chatter about coming changes to the constitution, which could include stripping the Presidency of some powers, notably control of Anti-Corruption and unilateral judiciary appointments.

4. A review of constitutional changes is already on Parliament’s agenda in August.

5. Now that the election cycle is concluded until 2020, Mongolia's reality is stark:

- Without IMF, Mongolia will default and go bankrupt.
- IMF do not view assistance as viable without OT, Mongolia’s largest investor.
- In recent months, China has accounted for ~90% of Mongolia’s exports (mostly coal).
- Mongolia begging China for financial assistance, which will only come as part of large, comprehensive, strategic investment package.
-The MPP gets all of this. Parliament would easily overcome any Presidential veto which would compromise any of the aforementioned.
