Bigworld, >> Political Parties Are Obsolete <<
Webster Tarpley has been hoping for a breakup of the current US political Parties, though it's probably wishful thinking on his part since the ruling oligarchy benefits too much from the current 2 Party system to allow it to crumble. What the US oligarchy has enjoyed in the US is essentially one Party with two branches, both of which they control.
Tarpley says the Dems could split into a pro Wall Street faction (Clinton, Obama), and a more traditional New Deal type faction (labor, urban and rural middle class and poor). He sees the Republican Party splitting into a pro Wall Street austerity faction and a xenophobic Southern/rural faction.
Paul Craig Roberts sums it up - that due to decades of globalization, the good jobs left the country and the cumulative decline in the US standard of living is now at a critical stage. He says most people are feeling a level of desperation sufficient enough to take a chance on bold newcomers like Trump and Bernie Sanders. Roberts says that as the US Middle Class declines toward poverty, they realize the current 2 Parties only serve the interests of the top 1%. The ruling US oligarchy will try to repackage the same old 2 Party baloney and keep people squabbling and divided.
