When grinding pills it is best to place the pill inside the tube than flip your easy grinder dispense cap down. Hit the button 3 times to get the blades spinning with out the pill touching the blades yet. Than flip your easy grinder dispense cap up and the pill will fall onto the spinning blades.

From a lumber jacks point of view. The guy with a chain saw doesn't try to start his saw while the blade is touching the tree. The saw will never start as the blades will not be able to move.
