Could it just be that some of the investors that "had" to buy PPHM because of the Russel shuffle decided that they weren't comfortable holding as many shares as they had to hold, so they have a certain amount of shares shorted to hedge the bet ??

I ask this based on the assumption that other companies involved in russel reshuffle are in fact similarly shorted as noted by the funny bunny (I'm not sure if this is in fact true).
