I thought that Bauman was more of an "equal opportunity" whore. He would lease rock farms to anybody running a scam.

Have you seen any Lumb involvement? The paperwork makes this look entirely like a Bauman family scam. And none of Lumb's usual gang of sock puppets (Lowenthal, Blom, Cronshaw, Bezzano) are on the front end.
