Wow Bob. Sounds like a real 'Work-in-progress' for awhile. I've heard that if you can find used electric forklift batteries, they hold quite a charge, but they weigh a ton (literally).
I am fascinated by the concept of a ram water pump. I guess the technology is several hundred years old. A pump that needs no conventional power. http://journeytoforever.org/at_waterpump.html
Ever look into this to get more head height? You would probably need an elevated storage tank, fill it, then have a fair diameter pipe and a long downhill run to power a waterwheel.
