("Theralase®" or the "Company") (TSXV: TLT) (OTCQX: TLTFF), a leading biotechnology company focused on the commercialization of medical devices to eliminate pain and the development of Photo Dynamic Compounds ("PDCs") to destroy cancer is pleased to announce that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office ("USPTO") has issued a second patent on its lead anti-cancer compound technology licensed by Theralase from Dr. Sherri McFarland.
The USPTO granted U.S. Patent Number 9,676,806 B2 entitled, "Metal-Based Thiophene Photodynamic Compounds and Their Use", which issued on June 13, 2017, as a continuation of U.S. Patent No. 9,345,769.
The patent deals with the composition of tunable metal-based thiophene PDCs used as therapeutic
agents and as in-vivo diagnostic agents for treating or preventing diseases that involve hyperproliferating cell etiology, including: cancer and diseases associated with hyperproliferating cells. The compositions are also useful for treating infectious diseases and for pathogen disinfection.
