June 24,25-Beefsteak tomatoes are turning. I've picked four and placed them on a shelf in the makeshift shed I built to ripen. More will have turned by the time I arrive on the farm Monday morning. The past two days I've staked and tied up vines with more to come. Tomatoes plants are interesting in the way they grow. There'll be days when they do nothing, then they suddenly go on a growth spurt.

I rode with Danny, the project manager, to Home Depot. I bought five six inch pots. He bought two 2 cubic foot bags of organic potting soil. I used one to up pot the asparagus plants. I finished that project this afternoon. The total came to 44. I want to keep 20 for transplanting this fall. The remaining two dozen I can either sell or donate.

I've written a check to the Mecklenburg Beekeepers Association. I need an envelope. The world has changed so much that snail mail will become a thing of the past. I used to enjoy getting mail. Now days pass between finding something, usually junk, in the box.

It was pleasant this morning, as was the afternoon. The forecast says a dry period is ahead, with lows in the 60s. Will that motivate me to break out the tiller to make a trench for the asparagus?

The zinnias have exploded. I counted two dozen blossoms for Dreama to send an image to my email box. The honeybees have taken to them. I sit on the patio watching them. There seem to be two species. One is a little darker and a little larger. There is more than one honeybee species in North America, but the European honeybee is the undisputed champ when it comes to pollination.

Old Cadillacs never die. The finance company take 'em and faaaaade 'em away.
