I like the name Sean. It's an old Irish name, related to John in the English language. A kid in the neighborhood where I grew up was named Sean Donavan, and he was an okay kid. His parents done him proud.
In the original it's not spelled anywhere near today's Shawn or Shaun or DaShaun or MarShaun.
I may have named one of my sons Sean but for the fact that I'm Latino and the name may have been just a bit too much, my family rolling their eyes and thinking I was being pretentious.
So I named my sons Michael and Patrick, fine names from the auld sod of Mayheeco.
