In April of 2017, the state collected $4,484,514 in taxes.
In March of 2017, the state collected $4,476,032.
To find total Oregon sales for May compared to March, do some algebra.
5734618/x = 17/100
show your work: 573461800=17x
x= 573461800/17= 33733047
$33.7 million sold of recreational marijuana in Oregon in May.
In March:
4,476,032/x = 17/100
x = $26.3 million sold of recreational marijuana sold in March.
Oregon's marijuana sales are growing. It's over a million dollars a day in sales. (Oregon's population is about 4 million.)
We should be happy to see the growing Oregon sales for taxed marijuana. I personally was very surprised at these May numbers, because sales seemed flat for a few months, even as more and more retailers opened their doors. Perhaps consumer prices are on a mild downtrend.
We should expect testing growth in Oregon due to the number of growers that will be receiving licenses within the next few months.
