Ever done an ISO cert?
I did. It's a pain in the butt.
But you know what it actually is?
It has nothing to do with product or the company as a whole really.

It's all a matter of accountability in a process.
I get my parts from an ISO certified company and I can trace each piece all the way through manufacturing.

This is required in many fields especially in medical fields.

It's really all just paperwork.
We bought 25 parts from ACME.
they were inspected by Sam.
23 were acceptable.
2 were rejected.
Rejection report was filled out by Sam.
Cause of rejection was evaluated by Mike.
Rejected parts stored and/or scrapped by Mike.

It's actually a pretty crappy system.
They recertification you every year by walking around asking employees to recite their quality assurance statement.
And management runs in circles forging any missing paperwork they may need.

The rest of the year it's mostly ignored.

ISO certificates don't really mean anything but in order to comply you can only get your materials from ISO companies.
So if you want to sell a product to an ISO company you need to jump through a few hoops.

I would say all medical companies are ISO certified.
It's really a great scam for the ISO groups that do the certs.
