I dont believe so for the following reasons. A company that would buy Amedica needs to be partnered with them. They need to understand the technology and be working to develop products that fit into their portfolio.
Zimmer did precisely those with Implex back in 2000. They established a relationship with them and had 7 products in development by the time Zimmer acquired Implex in 2003.

We don't need a bidding war to get fair valuation. Zimmer will use standard techniques to value Amedicas IP and they will fully understand the applications of technology because of the 2 companies intimate connections.

Fast forward to 2015 and a leading ortho co signs a letter of intent with Amedica in an ortho development deal. I believe this was Zimmer and I believe they have spine, dental, & hip products in development as well as knee with other possible ones we aren't even aware of.

This is where CL & my very detailed Zimmer Connection piece comes into play because Zimmers fingerprint is all over Amedicas trials. This suggests to me Zimmer was watching, a little more than watching from 2013. 2013 is when Amedica signs on Kyocera as 2nd manufacturer which seems odd given their low sales and production needs. They submit to go public later 2013 and of course go public in 2014. I believe this may have been for 2 main reasons.

First, especially for major purchases, public companies prefer to acquire other public companies. CL has provided extensive research on the due diligence of acquisitions but 3 years audited data is standard.
This leads me to reason number 2, Amedica now has 3 years of publicly submitted financials which we know at least 2016 are being fully audited.
Very very important that Amedica s books are clean, healthy, fully compliant upon acquisition.
