There seems to be some wrong perception that judges will protect Democracy, Constitution, Bill of rights and provide effective checks and balances against tyranny and overreach of Gov bureaucracy.

Historically all over the world, judges have always sided with Monarchy or people in power and provided cover to perpetuate rule of powerful. US still follows ancient English law while English have continued to modernize their legal system.
