I came home from work, picked the strawberries. Then picked a handful of raspberries that had ripened. My wife is diabetic, and it's a real thrill (all the way to the bank!) to be able to provide fresh fruits from my land.

The real surprise of the evening came from the potatoes. We really like the yellow/gold potatoes and that was my focus this year. I have several long rows of yukon gold potatoes that I planted in a warm spell in February. Yukon golds are not only delicious, but an early variety that matures early. Like onions, potatoes have early, medium, and late season varieties. While walking thru the garden, I noticed several of them were turning brown. I pulled one plant up and it had over 15 potatoes on it. Some were of decent size. Nothing huge, but big enough that I put potatoes on the "do not buy at the store list." Cha-ching!!
