June 1,2-It's crepe myrtle weather. They're blooming all over the city. They will continue throughout summer and into the fall before the frost kills the blossoms. I never tire of viewing them from inside the bus wherever I go.

Thursday was slow. Another afternoon nap after a bit of tasking around the farm.

But Friday was a delight. I saw the first male goldfinch. Soon, he and his girl friends will be feeding on the sunflower blossoms. They will drive CC the Calico Cat nuts.

Speaking of blossoms, I spotted two on the Polish honeydew melon plants I sowed in April. My worry now is honeybees. If they don't appear I will have to hand pollinate.

Later this afternoon, I spotted a honeybee hovering over the cucumber blossoms. It was obviously a gatherer, which tells me a scout bee has already checked out the scene and returned to dance her dance to the others about a new place for nectar.

Dreama finally remembered to email the images of the lettuce plants. The left plant is the Black Seeded Simpson; the right, A Winter Density. In the foreground are a pair of Sugar Baby watermelon vines. I will see buds appear on them in a few days.

Old Cadillacs never die. The finance company take 'em and faaaaade 'em away.
