Maple Terminals is a corporation dedicated to the oil refinery business and the development of energy projects, with operations in the United States, Colombia and Peru. Its president and founder, Jack W. Hanks , saw an opportunity for expansion in our country, recently acquiring the company Carburantes Centroamericanos, SA (CARCASA) .

In an interview with Soy502 , investor Jack Hanks commented:

" I'm a law graduate. I worked in Washington DC for many years in the oil and gas industry. In 1992 it was the time of "Sendero Luminoso" and nobody wanted to invest in Peru. It meant a great risk on our part but we thought it was a great opportunity. "

Jack W. Hanks

, President and CEO of Maple Terminals, LLC

Regarding the decision to invest in Guatemala, he explained:

" If you look Brownsville is a central location along with Central America, Cuba and the Panama Canal. It made strategic sense to get involved in Guatemala for its central location and opportunities in the country. Personally, I would like to see a refinery established here. Terminal facilities are an opportunity for country growth and development. With this, you can imagine a future in which crude oil is imported from the United States to be refined in Guatemala. "

, Chairman and CEO of Maple Terminals, LLC

With the acquisition of CARCASA and the Hydrocarbons Terminal of Arcenillas, which is currently in charge of Blue Oil 's operations, the company plans, after conducting environmental, social and economic impact studies, a first construction phase that would take approximately two Years, before beginning the second phase of refinery operations.

As for the environmental issue was very punctual when he said:

" We have worked on this for a long time and we know there are no short cuts for environmental issues. You have to do them correctly from the beginning. "

, Chairman and CEO of Maple Terminals, LLC

Previously, the businessman made an investment of more than 270 million dollars in Peru. Hanks is in our country, will hold meetings with the Minister of Energy and Mines, as well as with other important players in the hydrocarbons industry, to discuss the project and its feasibility.
