Agreed on the amp thing vs voltage. The switches have to be volts not amps since breakers are usually 20 amps etc.

Switches and dimmers have become more sophisticated with the advent of led bulbs ceiling fans etc.

I still say to go back to the instructions wiring diagram that came with the fan.
