Maybe what's happening here is as follows...a hypothetical conversation:

Powers that be: "We have great assets but we also have lots of pesky shareholders. Let's get rid of the pesky shareholders.

We'll start by being incompetent, doing convertible debt, a reverse split or two, etc...and we'll then be able to buy the entire company away for $600k. Then we'll declare bankruptcy, free ourselves of all these debts and take the assets for song...per emdyal's theory"

Pesky shareholders: "Yay, let's buy a lot of these diluted shares, woo hoo, and take large positions in the company"

Powers that be: "Every time we try to buy $600k worth of shares, the shares go up in price because those pesky shareholders with large positions in the company won't let go of their shares!...plus you have all of these traders that jump in too. What are we to do?"

Pesky shareholders: "Gee, what's going on?"

Powers that be: "Wow. Foiled again by pesky shareholders!!"
