It's not true. The whole reason for the "D" is so there's no confusion about pre vs. post split shares.
The "D" hasn't come off because the company went dark.
All shares were converted post-split a long time ago.

When you think "there can't be that many people falling for this", remember the Bernie Madoff story and recall that over $50 BILLION of smart money fell for a great story.
