I have to make a retraction.
I saw the girlfriend when I went out to mow and went over to talk. Her boyfriend (my neighbor) is the one who wanted to get up close and personal. He was so sad, she called an animal rescue group after he left. They told her what to do and said it would be all right if she touched it. The mother would still take care of it.
Bottom line: once she picked it up and held it, the little dickens perked up. She put it down and it started following her so she took it near where the mother and siblings were then left quickly. She was going down to see if the little one was gone.
Yep. All three are off somewhere else.
P.S. She knows the difference between lay and lie.
That gave her an A+ rating in my book.
