With gasification one issue that comes up is because of the process currently used in gasification ( High heat) the coal to liquid fuel (CTL) emits nearly double the carbon dioxide that the equivalent amount of gas does. A second issue is the huge cost of the units themselves. The last article you posted speaks to both of these issues. There is another issue and that is the amount of gas produced from the coal. The article did not address that issue, but the gas produced from a given amount of coal can be increased. Increasing the amount of gas produced will greatly reduce the cost. All of this is IMHO.
