I don't know if you read the pdf that Andy provided, but Intel has been selling two socket boards with only one socket filled. Because they don't provide goodly amounts of connectivity on single socket. This is the kind of thing that drive customers to any alternative. Monopolies are bad to their customers. This is the nature of the human condition. What ever the traffic will bare.

The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of the oppressed.
