"Honest" reporting? ...

The idea of putting the harm on taxpayers for Fannie and Freddie's financial woes was odious to those of us who long believed the two companies had much too big a footprint in the home loan industry and their business models were flawed. Since the 1980s, National Taxpayers Union and other fiscal watchdogs had been warning that an implicit government guarantee could mean trouble for taxpayers, if Fannie and Freddie's fortunes turned sour.
