Well, if you are doing that to protect your privacy, fine.
Otherwise, false c.c. charges are the bank's worry. Mine's been hacked twice over the years. I just reported it and, boy oh boy, did the bank hustle to fix things up in a jiffy. Because they care? Ha! Because it's THEIR money on the line! That's what they care about. You owe, at most, $50, which is rarely invoked if you are prompt in reporting the loss.
Now debit cards I loathe! It's YOUR money on the line. Want to guess how fast the banks work to fix those problems? I only use mine to get cash at my bank's ATM. They no longer offer a plain MAC (ATM) card. Too bad.
