Getting rid of the baggage. Aka current shareholders.

There's one thing about a reverse split that everyone seems to overlook - the value of any shareholders' total holdings will not change: As an example, 1 share after the split down would be worth the value of 1,000 shares before the record date.

What they KNOW is that immediately after the R/S the sp will plummet. Probably right back to $.0001

You can lead a horse to water. But you can't make him get down on one knee and do an Al Jolson impression!
