Comcast broadband

Just received (0800 PDT) a call from a friend in my town. His Comcast cable internet is down and the recorded message from the help center states there is a nation wide MSFT virus problem with no resolution in sight!

My service was really slow and the Comcast mail server was goofy last night but, is fine this morning. I suspect he needs to recycle his modem. There shouldn't really be any reason my Mac works fine and his PC doesn't, is there?

Does anyone know what Comcast (used to be ATT broad band used to be @Home) uses for servers?
