Rig count rises for 17th straight week....which is not good for ng either


The total count of U.S. active drilling rigs increased by 8 to 885 for its 17th consecutive weekly increase, Baker Hughes reports in its latest survey. It's more than double the amount of working rigs one year ago.

Oil rigs rose by 9 to 712, also higher for a 17th straight week, and gas rigs slipped by one to 172; one rig is labeled miscellaneous.
