$AAPL Valuation Fundamentals

Apple’s successful diversification into the cloud and the anticipation of the new iPhone line sends its valuation higher for $AAPL.

Apple ($AAPL) has become the first American company to have a market value exceeding $800 billion, and it all has to do with the upcoming iPhone which investors believe will result in a massive sales resurgence. On Tuesday, the 9th of May, 2017, AAPL stock rose 1% and closed at $153.99, giving it market capitalization worth $803 billion. With a 33% gain since the year began, and a buyback program rising to $210 billion from $175 billion in the previous year, investors have been truly pleased.

AAPL New Products
Apple will be launching three new iPhone models later in 2017 since that would coincide with the 10th anniversary of the first iPhone. Curved glass, stainless steel materials, new screen type, advanced cameras, etc are some of the innovations being tested. The new model range will include a handset that will be at the top of the range and have a totally overhauled look.

It’s interesting that in spite of the sales of iPhone falling in the latest fiscal quarter, Apple experienced revenue growth. This is thanks to the company’s timely diversification into other areas such as iCloud and App Store that provide higher margins. The company has also launched the AirPod wireless headphones, Apple Watch, and other such products that have helped it diversify significantly.

This is evidence that mobile technology is a winning proposition. Even online stock trading is possible through efficient mobile apps. It is an indication that investing in mobile technology is a great move since there will continue to be newer uses and applications that smartphones can be used for. It contrasts with the state of the oil industry that is in relative decline in recent years.
