In neither case did the company state it was the gold standard. in 2009: "we believe we are on our way to establishing a new 'gold Standard' for microorganism detection", sounds very hopeful.

In 2011: "By making the 'gold standard' method of culturing a faster process" refers to petri plate culture and increasing the speed of detection with the BNP, with petri being the gold standard.


Realistic statements based upon the speed demonstrated by the Battelle Anthracis BNP research issued around that time in 2009 showing six hours rather than 24 for detection.

This is borne out by the Abstract in the Battelle TB paper citing the speed for TB detection of the BNP over standard culture (the Gold Standard)
