May 11-I'm glad I started out earlier than usual. By the time I had 8 heads of lettuce pulled, the roots clipped, and washed, it was 9:10. Lucky the bus showed up in time to make it by 9:30. I did manage to get the 13, even though I was tired, for two 5 gallon buckets of manure. Bobby was on the porch. His wife thanked me for the lettuce I left. I will leave more tomorrow.

The manure and heaping scoops of finished compost went into the soil for 6 pepper plants. I'm now down to 12 left. In between, I worked up a hill for the last three acorn squash seeds, put in a couple of basil plants and up potted another asparagus seedling. More have germinated in newspaper cups in the past couple of days. My total is buidling, maybe close to 25.

And CC the Calico Cat caught another bird, a fledgling. I found it on the glass table top I set up next to the patio.

I need to re seed some melon hills. Some didn't germinate during that period of Blackberry Winter. Others, though, have formed a true leaf, including the Moon & Stars watermelon.

Six more sleeps until I make another manure run with a rented truck.

Old Cadillacs never die. The finance company take 'em and faaaaade 'em away.
