I did read the posts. Apparently they did claim the brokers knew! Here is the claim so their is no misunderstanding:

Per Scottrade directly, they know of the ticker change but they do not have details and cannot give any information or details other than they have been notified of a change.

Brokers only know of a symbol change when it happens and they get the electronic notification from FINRA and it is announced at the same time on the daily list! They do not receive this information before the street does.
