May 6-Blackberry Winter conditions prevail this morning. Barely over 50 when it should be over 60. The high won't make it to 70 when it should over 80. More of the same is forecast for Sunday, Monday, Tuesday then a littler warmer. I will have to delay sowing melon seeds and transplanting peppers from the greenhouse.

What to do in the meantime? If nothing else, weed. I can prepare places in the pepper bed with manure and organic fertilizer and mark them with a rod or short pipe. I can till. I can return to digging out dirt for those 6ft timbers I want to replace. I can even take the bus to Bobby's stable for more manure.

Meanwhile, I decided to turn the compost pile yesterday afternoon. I could feel the heat, which is what you want when it comes to composting materials. That pile will find its way to the beds later this month.

Dreama took another image of the Black Seeded Simpson lettuce that bolted. This is how lettuce plants look when they go to seed.

Old Cadillacs never die. The finance company take 'em and faaaaade 'em away.
