But AMD had a shaky lead at best with Athlon. And the brand difference definitely fell on the Intel side. Look at the damn financials. AMD NEVER had a 50% retail market share. EVER. Even in the worst scenario where they were against a long in the tooth Pentium D, Intel just adjusted prices and got the volume wins. AMD could never be a real volume supplier and they never were. And the second Intel introduced the massively superior Core architecture AMD crumbled...
