Strongly disagree. With a lightly traded stock that has been moving within a tight range, it is quite possible to walk down the share price without shorting. The advantages are obvious. If someone with lots of cheap shares wants to accumulate more but doesn't want to do it at 20 cents or 12 cents, they can take action to make that possible. Obviously, when the stock starts running fast again, the strategy must be abandoned. Is it selfish? Of course. But that's why I keep posting for people to buy at market price instead of using low bids. That leads to stronger price activity. Once we have more volume here, it will be a moot point. Much harder to play these games with heavily traded stocks.
