I see your point, but it seems like logistically it would be hugely complicated to wind down and replace. Since his first comments in November moved the stock price, Mnuchin's comments have been very measured. I think his "release" denial is a result of that more than anything, and he probably feels the need to pacify the conservatives like Hensarling as well. Certainly good to weigh all options though and take nothing for granted.
Read an article yesterday in which the author quoted someone in housing who said they plan for the reorganization to take five years. I'll look for the article and post a link if you like.
