Before heading to your Bank to do the wire transfer you'll need to visit the regular TDA website first for TDA Banks physical address, ABA, routing and account numbers. These can be found from tda.com home page. Go to client services look under bank transfers, funding account or just type "wire transfers" in the top search field. There you'll find download instructions in PDF file format. Download and save it to your mobile device. Open it and you'll see the instructions for US domestic transfers.
Next when you go to your bank make sure you ask for a manager at the bank, and then ask them who's in charge of doing wire transfers. (BTW, you might be surprised to find out how most of the tellers know little or nothing at all on how there own bank executes a wire transfer) so that's why you just ask for a manager. Anyway, When you find that person take your mobile device and show them the PDF file with all of TDA Bank numbers. For best foolproof results I just emailed the manager by attaching the PDF file right there at the bank. Ask to have them print a few copies, so you can use the info the next time or at another branch. Once you go through these initial hoops the first time, makes so much easier next time. Also, have your ID, drivers license preferably, as they'll no doubt ask for it on proof of identity. They may ask why you are wire transferring as they are required but it's really just a formality to ensure it's not for some other sinister use. Just tell the truth on funding your investment brokerage account quickest way possible. I know it all seems like a lot, but it's really not as bad as it may seem. Just make doubly sure the person doing the wire transfer shows you on their computer screen or printout verifying all the correct numbers before sending. Once it's done your funds should post later that day or next business morning. You'll have shaved off about 6 days minimum using a wire method compared to an ACH transfer which would take 2-4 days initially from your bank to TDA, then another 3days after that once TDA settles them as non marginal. Just a heads up, wire transfers can only be done on normal M-F weekdays, so again check with the bank manager when the cutoff times are. It may be possible to put in a order with a visit to bank on Saturday morning but they wont be able to process till Monday morning. If you have further questions on wire transfers, call TDA, but I think I covered what is explained on their website.
Hope this helps.. glty and go BVTK..
