I just did the same exact thing. I live in Manhattan - really close to the E*TRADE branch so I walked over with a bank certified check and that cleared within a couple hours.... just in time for me to pick up some 8s before the market closed =)

I've been trading with Merrill Edge bc I had an IRA rollover. But at Merrill Edge you can't have more than 75% of account in "low price securities" - which means I can't trade online right now (I'm essentially locked out) - bc my INMG position is so big I can't buy anymore penny stocks.....WTF?!?

Hence, today was day one of trading with E*TRADE.....game changing!!!
